Alva, OK (June 2, 2019) – A crash that took place last week in Woods County tragically claimed the life of an 18-year-old man. The accident was reported to have occurred just after 12:45 p.m. on Friday, May 31st.
According to police, the collision happened at the intersection of Route 281 and Greer Road as Colton Carter, 18, was traveling eastbound along Greer Road and may have failed to observe a stop sign. Carter subsequently collided with an SUV pulling a 40-foot John Deere header southbound along Route 281.
Emergency medical crews arrived at the scene, along with police, where Carter was sadly pronounced deceased upon their arrival. The unidentified adult female driver of the SUV and her two passengers, identified only as a 9-year-old girl and a 5-year-old girl, were unharmed in the accident.
The cause of the crash appears to be related to speeding at this time.
Our sincerest condolences are offered to the loved ones of Colton Carter as they attempt to cope with this tragic accident.
