Custer County, OK (July 6, 2019) – Police stated that three people have tragically died after a crash caused by a drunk driver on Friday morning, July 5th, in Custer County. The collision happened in the westbound lanes of I-40 near Weatherford around 2:00 a.m.

According to authorities, an unidentified 68-year-old man was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate in a 2012 Honda Crosstour. The driver, who was traveling with a passenger, identified only as a 48-year-old female, had driven approximately 12 miles in the wrong direction before the crash.

A Custer County Deputy made an attempt to pull over the Crosstour just before it slammed into a 2018 Dodge Journey that was being operated by an unidentified 48-year-old man. A 25-year-old male passenger was also in the Journey at the time of the crash.

Unfortunately, the driver in the Crosstour who caused the collision, as well as both the driver and passenger in the Journey, were killed in the crash. Authorities stated that the driver of the Crosstour was intoxicated behind the wheel, and there has been no word concerning the victim’s identities or the condition of the passenger in the Crosstour.

Our deepest condolences are being offered to the families and friends of all of the deceased victims in this terrible crash. Our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time.
