Hicks Park, OK – Police Identify Victim of Car Accident on US-169 at Mingo Creek

Car Accidents in Oklahoma on May 6, 2019

Hicks Park, OK (May 5, 2019) – Police have released the identity of a man whose body was recently found inside of a vehicle that was submerged in Mingo Creek on Wednesday morning, May 1st. Recovery workers verified that the vehicle slid off of US-169 and down into the water in the vicinity of the Broken Arrow Expressway.

According to authorities, 55-year-old Hiep Tran was on the US-169 travelling in a gray Toyota Camry when the vehicle went off the road and down an embankment into the flooded Mingo Creek. Flooding was caused by the rainstorms on Tuesday night when a fire truck passing through the area was flagged down by witnesses. Unfortunately, the vehicle was undetectable in the darkness and rapid moving water.

The vehicle was spotted by a police officer on Wednesday near 37th Street and Mingo Road. Emergency responders were able to get to the vehicle where they found Tran, the sole occupant, deceased.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of Hiep Tran at this time.  Our thoughts are with them at this time.
