Boise City, OK (August 8, 2019) – On August 8th, just after 6:00 a.m., emergency crews from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident on US Highway 287.
Reports from OHP indicate that a bus was traveling north along the highway, with seven occupants, when the driver overcorrected a corner. As a result, the vehicle began to spin before going into a broad slide. The vehicle re-entered the roadway, then went off the right side a second time. The vehicle rolled over six-and-a-half times before coming to rest on its roof.
As the vehicle rolled over, a female occupant of the bus was ejected.
The female, who was identified as 28-year-old Josefa Toj-Turquiz, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
