Jefferson County, OK (August 12, 2019) – On August 10th, just before 7:00 p.m., emergency crews were notified of a motor vehicle accident on County Road 3040, approximately two miles north of Ringling.
Reports from the police state that a vehicle was traveling north along CR 3040 when the driver took his eyes off the road to reach for an item in the back seat. The vehicle drifted off the left side of the road before striking an embankment.
The vehicle then continued through a fence and rolled twice before coming to a rest.
Three passengers inside the vehicle were ejected, causing extensive injuries.
Two of the injured victims were transported via AirEvac to OU Medical Center. A third victim was transferred to OU Children’s Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle incurred minor injuries and was transported to Ardmore Mercy Hospital.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
