Tulsa, OK (August 5, 2019) – Just after 1:40 p.m. on August 4, the Tulsa Police Department responded to the scene of an accident in the 2400 block of North Maplewood Avenue.

According to reports, 53-year-old David Wayne Sowell was trimming a large limb from a tree at a home in the area when he fell off a 5-foot ladder.

After landing on the ground, the limb landed on top of Sowell, striking him in the head.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene, where they pronounced Sowell deceased.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
